Stena Line: compare these crossings before booking
New passport rule for Dublin and Rosslare crossings
From 28 September 2026, every passenger on Holyhead–Dublin and Fishguard–Rosslare needs a valid passport or accepted Irish passport card. This includes children and British or Irish citizens; ordinary photo ID is not sufficient.
Northern Ireland terminals and route conditions
The passport-policy change does not apply to Belfast–Cairnryan or Belfast–Liverpool. Belfast uses Victoria Terminal 4 for Cairnryan and Terminal 2 for Liverpool; the Liverpool end is 12 Quays in Birkenhead. Carry the operator-required identification and check any onward journey into the Republic separately.
Harwich and accommodation choices
Harwich–Hook of Holland accepts foot passengers, bicycles and vehicles, with a cabin required on overnight sailings. Harwich International station and Hoek van Holland Haven metro serve the port areas. Pet cabins, kennels and lounges vary across Stena’s routes and vessels, so reserve the appropriate arrangement.
