Irish Ferries: compare these crossings before booking
Passports on Ireland–Britain routes
Since 28 September 2026, every passenger on Dublin–Holyhead and Rosslare–Pembroke needs a valid passport or accepted Irish passport card, including children and British or Irish citizens. Ordinary photo ID no longer meets this carrier requirement.
Dublin and France have different procedures
Irish Ferries uses Dublin Terminal 1. Holyhead, Pembroke and Cherbourg have different boarding, luggage and reporting arrangements; do not reuse the Irish Sea deadline for France. W.B. Yeats has booked kennels, while Isle of Inisheer has designated pet cabins on the Cherbourg service.
Dover is a vehicle crossing
Irish Ferries markets Dover–Calais to motorists and motorcyclists, without ordinary foot-passenger travel. Compare the complete vehicle fare with P&O and DFDS, including flexibility and any Pet Den or other pet arrangement shown for the ship.
