Southern Ireland direct to Brittany
A classic overnight route for Brittany, western France and road trips south
Cork to Roscoff is Brittany Ferries’ direct passenger route between southern Ireland and Brittany.
It is particularly convenient for travellers from Cork, Kerry, Limerick and the south who want to
avoid driving across Ireland to Rosslare before beginning the sea journey.
Current 2026 route information lists two sailings a week, normally leaving Cork on Wednesday and
Saturday afternoons. Pont-Aven and Armorique operate the route, with crossings taking around
fourteen to fifteen hours and arriving in Roscoff the following morning.
The cruise ferries carry cars and passengers on all sailings and provide cabin accommodation for the
overnight journey. Onboard facilities vary by ship, with Pont-Aven offering the most extensive range
including restaurants, cinemas, lounges and a swimming pool.
Roscoff is a useful arrival point for Brittany itself and for road trips towards the Loire, Atlantic
coast and western France. It also avoids the long road journey east from Cherbourg if your
destination is in Brittany or south-west France.
Look beyond the headline fare when comparing Cork to Roscoff. Departure time, ticket flexibility and
the transfer after arrival can make a different sailing more convenient overall.
