During the crossing
The hovercraft journey and terminal experience
Hovertravel is deliberately simple: a fast passenger cabin, a short Solent crossing and terminal facilities at either end. It should not be compared with a conventional overnight ferry for restaurants, cabins or entertainment.

About 10 minutes across the Solent
The normal journey is approximately 10 minutes. Timetable and service status should still be checked because weather or operational conditions can affect individual flights.

Passenger-only operation
The hovercraft carries people, luggage, mobility aids and limited bicycles under the published conditions. It does not have a car deck and does not carry road vehicles.

Seated passenger cabin
Passengers travel inside a compact seated cabin. HoverCare seating and assistance are available for passengers who need additional support, subject to the operator’s arrangements.

Bicycles in the luggage area
Bicycles are carried free subject to available space and are stored in the luggage or freight area. They are not pre-bookable and some departures restrict bicycle carriage.

Dogs and other pets
Pets travel free under the operator’s conditions. They must remain on the floor and be secured by a lead, harness or suitable carrier rather than occupying passenger seats.

Terminal Wi-Fi and refreshments
Free Wi-Fi, accessible toilets, hot and cold drinks and snacks are available in the terminals. There are no onboard toilets, so use the terminal facilities before boarding.
